Vilsandi by Boat

The island of Vilsandi off the coast of Saaremaa is the place from where the nature protection in Baltic area started in 1910 (Estonian independence was declared “only” on 1918!).

Boatman waits for you in the harbour.
20 minutes trip takes you to Vilsandi and a truck or bus waits for the drive to the lighthouse (the oldest working light house in Saaremaa county, 1809).

The guide shows and tells stories about the beginning and nowadays of the NP (National Park). 1,5 hours coastal hike starts from here. You will experience the unique natural landscapes of karrs (unique type of coral cliff), see and identify numerous plants and birds, study nature to understand the island’s natural balance. Resting area on the beach, watch tower en route. Hike ends with good lunch in holiday farm (smoked flatfish, boiled potatoes, salad, cake, coffee, tea).

Visit to small museum (depending on time schedule).
Bus or truck takes group back to the boats.

Price: 490eur/ per boat, i.e. 10 pax (49eur per pax).
Price incl: multilingual guide, boat seating 10, lunch in farm, bus or truck ride, VAT tax 20%

1. Duration of the trip 4-5 hours.
2. One boat seats 10 persons.
3. Please have wind and waterproof clothing (incl of hats).
4. Cameras are most welcome.
5. You will hike on the utmost coastline without trail, so good hiking shoes is a proper choice.

Idea: visit the Visitor Center of Vilsandi National Park in Loona Manor for introduction to the theme and short film about Vilsandi National Park beforehand. Allow approx 1 hour for the visit. In case of too tough itinerary you can leave this out and guide makes introduction en route to the harbor.
